Skout Deals is a location-based mobile app that helps people find nearby deals. Skout Deals is FREE to use, and all deals on the app are at least 25% OFF or MORE. The app also includes many merchant FREEBIES.

The app was created two lifelong deal finders who were frustrated at the amount of time and research it took them to find nearby deals.

How are you different?

Our vision in creating the Skout Deals App is to create a one-stop shop to find nearby deals with a few taps of the finger, eliminating the need and time required to hunt through websites, apps, opt in emails, flyers, newspapers and direct mail just to find deals nearby.
People love the Skout Deals app for its ease of use and convenience.

There is nothing quite like it on the market. It’s a revolutionary approach to location-based deal finding. We launched with over 125,000 Merchant locations and all our deals come directly from the Merchants daily, with over 50,000 deals on the app.
It is also a FREE plan for merchants to post deals, with a “Do it Yourself Marketing Platform”.

Where are you based?

Founded by a husband and wife team, Skout Deals has offices in Austin and Toronto.

When was the company launched?

The company was founded May 1, 2015 and the app was official launched October 1st, 2016

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Even though we just launched and our user base is relatively small, time amount of time our users are spending on the app is impressive, it’s over 9 minutes per session, along with a well about average monthly user rate.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

Typically women between the ages of 18 – 35, Students, and women married with children.

Bryan Payne – Founder & CEO
Bryan co-founded Skout Deals with his wife Alice in November 2014.
As a serial entrepreneur, Bryan as started and managed many high-growth businesses from printing to tech. His most recent venture was launching a very successful Silicon Valley-based technology business that revolutionized an industry. Aside from finding and negotiating that great deal, Bryan is a 12 X Ironman finisher and when he’s not training, enjoys spending time with family.

Atul Jagga- Chief Financial Skout
Atul has been part of the executive team since inception.
As a finance professional Atul brings a very diverse background to everyday finance and accounting. He started his career a decade ago with Nestle in market research and then joined a Fortune 500 telecom conglomerate where he lead a revenue vertical, successfully launching over 100 products and being formally recognized for his efforts.
Atul is a CPA, CMA with two MBA’s, his most recent in Finance and Strategy from the University of British Columbia.

Aside from work, Atul enjoys academic endeavours and in his spare time is now working towards his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Business Valuation (CBV) designations.

Georges Auberger – CTO
Georges has spent more than 20 years building and leading software development teams at various startups in Silicon Valley.

Throughout the years, he delivered many products and services to customers, often on ideas that were ahead of their time, such as on-demand video streaming and mobile social gaming.
Along the way, he’s acquired extensive experience creating and scaling applications for the web and mobile.

When not behind a computer, Georges can be found riding his bike on the roads of Northern California or frolicking in the ocean in Hawaii.

Jack Furst
Mr. Jack D. Furst is the Founder of Oak Stream Investors. He has over 25 years of private investment experience completing over $50 billion in transactions which resulted in attractive returns for investors. Jack was a founding Partner in HM Capital Partners (formally Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Incorporated). Prior to founding HM Capital, he was a partner at Hicks & Haas Incorporated (a private investment firm) from 1987 to 1989. From 1984 to 1986, he was a merger and acquisition/corporate finance specialist for The First Boston Corporation in New York.

He received his BS degree with honors from the College of Business Administration at Arizona State University and his MBA degree with honors from the Graduate School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. Jack is an Adjunct Professor at The University of North Texas (the Harvard of the Southwest) where he teaches finance and investments. Jack serves on the board of directors for several companies.

What are you long term plans for your product / company?

Our goal is to dominate a newly created location-based deal finding space and become as popular and well known as Groupon and Yelp.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

To me it’s all about software and apps. My favorite from a business perspective is Slack and Calendly. From a personal perspective it’s Strava.
